Established in 1992 and maintained by government funding to broadcast in Canada’s northern territories, APTN aquired a national broadcast licence in 1999. It airs and produces programs made by, for and about Indigenous peoples in Canada and the United States.

The Canada Media Fund is a public-private partnership founded on April 1, 2010, by the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Canadian cable industry. It is used to fund the creation of original Canadian content and support the Canadian media industry.

The Indigenous Screen Office (ISO) is an independent national advocacy and funding organization serving First Nations, Inuit and Métis creators of screen content in Canada.

Rogers Telefund

The Rogers Group of Funds has been supporting Canada’s independent film and television producers since 1980 through its Telefund program. It provides financing assistance for the production of quality Canadian television programming.

Nu Media Films

Nu Media Films is a community driven video production company in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  It was founded in 2011 by Jordan Molaro, a proud Anishinaabe / Métis storyteller, producer, director and editor. Jordan also runs the Nu Media Program, a film and new media training course for First Nation youth.

Carte Blanche Films

Carte Blanche is an independent television production company that was established in 2008 by producer Tracy Legault. With facilities in Sudbury and Ottawa, Carte Blanche has produced for broadcasters like APTN and TVO. The company provides training incentives to regional talent interested in careers in film and television.

Stonecast Pictures

Stonecast Pictures was a single-purpose company formed for the co-production of Catch The Dream Bios, a collaboration between Jesse Green and the Owners of Wabung Anung. Catch The Dream Bios was released in 2014 and aired on APTN.

Atoshkewin Productions

Atoshkewin was a single-purpose company formed for the co-production of Kitohcikew, a collaboration between Ralph Brown and the Owners of Wabung Anung. Kitohcikew was released in 2008 and aired on APTN and SCN.

AirMagic  was incorporated in 1988 and quickly grew from a boutique pyrotechnics company to a full service special effects provider. Headed up by Mark Fine, an expert in his field, AirMagic provides consultation, design and production as well as rentals, sales and service.

Kaha:wi Dance Theatre

Kaha:wi is an Indigenous dance company founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Santee Smith. Kaha:wi means “to carry” in the Kanien’kéha (Mohawk) language and is the traditional name for Santee’s family. The dance company’s home community is Six Nations of the Grand River and the home city is Toronto.

Pie Studios

Pie offers studio and gear rentals to the film, television and music industries. They have six studios ranging from 850 to 6,000 square feet with grid heights from 9 to 24 feet.
